Celebration of Life

Mary Margaret Dashney (nee Dunning) passed away suddenly after a brief illness on October 23rd at Hôpital Monfort in Ottawa in her 85th year.

Beloved wife of Edwin (Ted) Dashney of Navan. Loving mother of Shirley, Karen and son-in-law Cliff Smith. Sadly missed by her two grandchildren Mitchell and Courtney Smith. Sister-in-law to Helen Wilson (Merrill) and Arnold Dashney (Leona).

An only  child, she became the centre of a large extended family of friends and relatives whom she loved dearly. She was a mainstay of the Navan community, devoting her endless energies to the people and town she loved, in particular being a committed member of St. Mary's Anglican church and a Lifetime Member of the Navan Women's Institute.

Mary will be remembered as the best cook, seamstress, gardener, community person, church supporter, wife, mother and nanny that anyone could ask for.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church or a charity of your choice. Due to COVID-19 a private service and burial will take place.

She may have been small in stature but was mighty to the end.

In-Person Worship

On thanksgiving we held our first open worship service at St. Mary's Church in Navan. This return to in-person worship is a welcome change for those of us missing the communion with Christ and is done in accordance with our diocesan reopening plan and all municipal and provincial restrictions.

We will continue to hold in-person worships, which will also be live-streamed over Zoom so that all can choose which venue to participate in. All in person attendees must RSVP with Anne-Marie each week by phone (873-288-8255) or email (

New Incumbent

In a letter that was read over Zoom this morning, Bishop Shane announced with pleasure that he has appointed The Reverend Chung Yan (JoAnne) Lam as the Incumbent of the Parish of Bearbrook-Navan-Blackburn. This appointment is made with the unanimous and enthusiastic support of all wardens. Congratulations JoAnne!
